Hamilton board approves code of conduct, personnel items and consent agenda; executive session motion passed

The Hamilton City School District board approved a series of routine items during the meeting, including the district code of conduct, personnel recommendations, the consent agenda and the finance agenda, and voted to enter an executive session on personnel, complaints, property sale and security matters.

President Shaquila Matthews read the motion to enter executive session stating it would cover employment of a public employee, investigation of charges or complaints against employees or students, sale of property by competitive bidding, and security and emergency response arrangements. Board member Dave Davidson moved the motion; it was seconded and approved on roll call.

The board also voted to accept the meeting agenda and to approve minutes from the previous meeting earlier in the session. The code of conduct was approved as presented, after which personnel items (resignations, retirements and summer hours) were approved. During the personnel roll call a board member, Dr. Joe Copas, announced he would abstain on one personnel vote.

A consent agenda that included curriculum and field-trip approvals, a continuing agreement with Sinclair for College Credit Plus classes and a quote for a new seventh–eighth grade science curriculum was approved by roll call. Treasurer Fraser gave a brief finance report noting donations including nearly $4,900 from AMVETS and several smaller gifts for athletics and field trips.

The board set its next meeting for Tuesday, May 26 at 4 p.m. and then adjourned following a motion to close the meeting.
