Minocqua Plan Commission approves multiple sign permits and a retail craft studio permit

The Minocqua Plan Commission approved multiple sign permits and an administrative review permit at its April 14 meeting in the Minocqua Center.
Oneida County planner Carla Blankenship told the commission that proposed signs for the Train Station Shops at 611 Oneida St. and for Gaslight Square at 215 W. Milwaukee St. met applicable ordinance requirements. The commission voted 5-0 to approve Sign Permit #06-26 (a 53.95-square-foot building-mounted sign, west façade), Sign Permit #07-26 (14.45-square-foot building-mounted sign, south façade), Sign Permit #08-26 (30-square-foot freestanding sign), Sign Permit #09-26 (32-square-foot building-mounted sign, north façade) and Sign Permit #10-26 (32-square-foot building-mounted sign, east/alley façade).
The commission also approved Administrative Review Permit #12-26 for Thomas and Leana Schlecht, doing business as Gaslight Square LLC, to operate a retail craft studio at 215 W. Milwaukee St. Blankenship said the parcel is zoned Business B-6, the proposed studio will have 20 seats, and that, by the commission’s calculation, 11 parking spaces are required; one parking space is available at the rear of the building. The commission approved the ARP with continuation of the existing parking waiver by a 5-0 voice vote.
An earlier sign application (Sign Permit #05-26, Graphic House Inc. applicant for Lakes Gas Company) to place a 32-square-foot freestanding sign at 7367 USH 51 was introduced but tabled.
All permit approvals were routine and made by voice vote with no recorded dissent. The motions to approve were moved and seconded by commission members as noted in the official minutes.
The commission’s next administrative steps for the approved ARP include continuing the parking waiver already on file; no dates for follow-up reports or inspections were specified in the meeting record.
