The Beaver Area School District board voted Oct. 28 to convert its Act 93 'Special Service Support Personnel' Clinical Coordinator position to full-time, benefits-eligible status effective on or about Dec. 1, 2024. The position, currently held by Christy Viola, was approved at an annual remuneration of $65,000, prorated for the remainder of the 2024–25 school year.
The motion to convert the position was included in the consent agenda approved unanimously by the seven directors present; the motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Director Aaron Bovalino and seconded by Director Karin Pilarski.
Why it matters: Converting a clinical coordinator role to full time expands district capacity for student services and signals a budgeted, recurring personnel commitment.
The board also accepted personnel resignations (including Jordan Miller, teaching assistant, listed as effective Oct. 20, 2024) and approved multiple new hires pending receipt of documentation, clearances and background checks. New staff approvals include Eden Tatko (Teaching Assistant) and Abby Manni (Life Skills Teacher, Step 6B, $59,504, prorated, start on or about Jan. 6, 2025). Athletic appointments approved include Jason Lowe as freshman boys basketball head coach ($3,153.03, start Nov. 1, 2024), Mike Miller in two roles (assistant coach and volunteer girls coach) and other stipend-paid assistant coaching positions with listed remuneration and start dates.
Student teacher placements and volunteer lists for the 2024–25 school year were also approved pending required clearances; the board recorded cooperating teachers, placement sites and placement dates for student-teacher assignments.
