Madeline Granato (Maddie) gave the committee a government-relations update and said the authority is prioritizing outreach to health care providers ahead of the close of the legislative session. “Health care providers are required to display Connecticut paid leave information in a manner that’s accessible to patients and their caregivers,” she said, referencing a requirement that took effect in October 2024.
Granato said the authority is developing a resource page, a toolkit for providers, and a job aid for completing the certification of a serious health condition form to reduce claim delays. She described presentations already delivered to oncology social workers at Hartford HealthCare’s Cancer Institute, to integrated care partners and to associations including the Connecticut Hospital Association and the state chapter of the Academy of Pediatrics.
Granato said the authority has briefed legislative caucuses and continues to monitor bills that could affect program operations; she encouraged committee members to suggest additional organizations to contact for provider outreach.
Committee members praised the focus on provider documentation and offered to help shape outreach materials or share lessons learned across other jurisdictions.
