At its Sept. 9 regular meeting, the Maple Valley City Council approved the consent calendar that included minutes, payroll and three vendor/payment batches totaling $3,859,399.56. The batches recorded in the minutes were: payments dated Aug. 7 ($1,607,516.85), Aug. 21 ($1,571,621.76) and Sept. 4 ($680,260.95). The motion to approve the consent calendar was made by Councilmember Didem Pierson, seconded by Councilmember Syd Dawson, and carried 5-0.
Also listed in the consent items was Ordinance No. O-24-826, amending Maple Valley Municipal Code section 10.10.010, titled "Designated," to reduce the speed limit on Kent Kangley. The minutes list the ordinance on the consent calendar and the consent motion carried; the minutes do not record the new posted speed or the effective date for the ordinance.
The consent calendar motion bundled routine administrative approvals and the traffic ordinance; the minutes show no separate roll call or debate on the ordinance itself. Council did not record requests for staff follow-up about the payment batches in the minutes.
