Resident raises notice, design concerns about 134 Nelson Street project

Marcy Betita of Short Street addressed the planning commission to express concerns about the proposed residential project at 134 Nelson Street. Betita said some property owners within 300 feet did not receive a notice and that architect/ARC renderings she saw in June differ substantially from the package reviewed by the commission, citing differences in driveway location and window cladding.
"It's been four weeks today since I first saw all of the details about the project, and there's been a lot of questions," Betita said, adding that she had sent a letter addressed to the council’s recommendation and had not received an acknowledgment. She also said she had seen “hundreds of comments” on local outlets and village Facebook pages.
The chair reminded members that under the Brown Act the commission cannot respond to items not on the published agenda but that the comment would be taken into advisement. Planning staff said they will reach out to the public commenter to continue the conversation in the coming days and confirmed there had been no formal appeal filed on the Nelson Street project.
The commission did not take action on the Nelson Street project at the meeting; staff follow-up with the commenter is the next step.
