Red Oak council approves minutes, routine budget moves and several zoning items

On zoning and planning matters, the council voted to research and accept a property-owner's conservation-easement request for a Deans Road parcel (motion carried 4-0) and accepted the Planning Board's recommendation for the E. Castalia Road subdivision with four contingencies after a public hearing (motion carried 4-0). The council also approved zoning for Noels Acres (motion carried 4-0).
Event and facilities actions included approval to allow up to 10 food trucks for the Family Freedom Celebration and affirmation of an expanded fireworks display (motion carried 4-0). The council approved a Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall project for 2027 and named Events and Planning Coordinator Carol Cooke the town point of contact; organizers said they will solicit donations and recruit 50–75 volunteers (motion carried 4-0). Councilors also approved budgeting for replacement chamber chairs in 2026–2027 (motion carried 4-0).
Procedural items concluded with the appointment of Zoning Administrator Jackie Johnson as Red Oak's representative to the Upper Coastal Plain Council of Governments for transportation matters (motion carried 4-0), a closed session for attorney-client privilege, and adjournment at 7:45 p.m.
