Council approves annexation and zoning changes for 45-acre Grissom Parkway site

City legal staff read the ordinances for (1) annexation of the property into city limits, (2) an amendment to the city's future land-use map changing about 36 parcels from Brevard County residential to City of Cocoa industrial designation, and (3) a zoning map amendment converting those parcels to M-2 (manufacturing and light industrial). Planner Mrs. Webster told the council there had been no changes since the first reading.
Council opened the public-hearing portions of each item but heard no public opposition and moved to close and adopt all three measures. Each ordinance passed on second and final reading with a unanimous aye vote.
Council members and staff framed the collective package as a standard, legislative land-use action required for the property's change of jurisdiction and intended future development; no conditions or modifications were reported on the council floor.
