Earl, speaking for the event, said the celebration is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, with doors opening at 10 a.m. and an opening ceremony around 11:30 a.m. He asked whether the commission could help with posting the colors and with organizing youth outreach and an anthem singer; commissioners suggested contacting Navy ROTC and making a formal request through base channels for color-guard support.
Commission staff and members volunteered to follow up: one commissioner said he would share contacts for Navy ROTC units and another offered to place a formal request through the base’s calendar staff. Members emphasized the event’s youth outreach goals and encouraged invitations to schools and community groups.
Organizers and commissioners agreed to continue planning and to route volunteer and color-guard requests through the established base and municipal channels.
