Plan Commission recommends annexation and future land-use change for Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish

The Fort Worth City Plan Commission on April 30 recommended that city council approve OMBAX 26003, an annexation application from the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth for Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish in the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction in Parker County.
Staff said annexations that are inconsistent with the comprehensive plan are referred to the commission for recommendation; staff recommended adopting a future land-use map amendment from single-family to institutional to reflect continued church use. Applicant representative Wes Hobblett said the parish has occupied the site since 2008 and that recent surrounding developments did not object to the request: "We've been here since 2008," Hobblett said, urging that the map be amended to institutional to match existing use.
With no public opposition, a commissioner moved and another seconded to recommend approval of the future land-use amendment and the annexation recommendation to city council; the motion passed unanimously.
The annexation recommendation will be forwarded to city council for final action.
