Plan Commission recommends vacation of Curry and Weisenberger street slivers to align townhome plat
Summary
The Fort Worth City Plan Commission on April 30 recommended city council approve VA 26003, vacating slivers of Curry Street and Weisenberger Street so a single parcel can be replatted for townhomes; the commission voted unanimously after staff and the applicant said the remaining Curry Street right-of-way will meet the 50-foot standard.
The Fort Worth City Plan Commission recommended city council approval of VA 26003 on April 30, a request to vacate portions of Curry Street and Weisenberger Street so a single, irregular parcel can be replatted for single-family townhomes.
Stephen Murray, the planning manager and facilitator, said the vacation would align the parcel with surrounding plats and that staff compiled the case materials for the commission. Applicant Logan Ellis told the commission his lot was platted with a 60-foot right-of-way while adjacent plats use 50 feet, and that the vacation would make the street pattern consistent: "We're looking to align that street so that everything is consistent and uniform," he said.
Staff and the applicant confirmed the remaining Curry Street right-of-way adjacent to the development will be 50 feet, satisfying the city's minimum for that location. No members of the public spoke in opposition during the public-hearing portion.
A commissioner moved to recommend the vacation to city council and another seconded; the clerk called the roll and the motion passed unanimously.
The commission's recommendation is advisory; final action on VA 26003 will be taken by the Fort Worth City Council if and when the council places the item on its agenda.
