Village reports $1.3 million in construction through April; LaGrange Road work may extend into next spring

The village reported April construction valued at $739,951 across 25 permits, generating $20,125 in permit fees for the month. For the first four months of the year the village issued 67 permits totaling $1,302,351 in construction value and $36,685 in permit fees, the acting chair told the board.

Those figures were presented as part of the building-and-zoning committee report. “April was a busy month with construction in the village,” the acting chair said while reviewing permit counts and fee totals.

Separately, when a board member asked about the timing for LaGrange Road, the village administrator said the 294 ramp should be finished by October or November but that the full LaGrange Road work could continue through the end of the year and possibly into next spring. “If we’re lucky, it’ll be done this fall, but it it could go all the way to next spring,” the administrator said.

Public safety was also raised in committee reports: the police chief reported two recent serious accidents and said the second vehicle’s onboard data recorder (black box) showed the vehicle traveling at a very high speed; the transcript records the phrase as "120 miles a minute," which is likely a transcription or verbalization error and is noted in the audit below.
