Returning from executive session July 10, the NorthlakeTown Council approved two development actions. First, the council authorized the town manager to negotiate and execute a development agreement with Checkered Flag Investments and to begin voluntary annexation of approximately 25.5 acres in the H3 cattle edition; council members described this as a positive step that resolves earlier roadway-assessment fee issues. The motion to approve carried unanimously with one member absent.
Second, the council authorized publication of required notices and delegated authority to the manager and mayor to execute documents necessary to create a Northlake Freshwater Supply District serving a proposed development on the town's far western edge along FM 156. Council said the district will support a small western development and tasked staff to proceed with required filings. That motion also carried unanimously.
Both votes conclude executive-session deliberations and direct staff to begin public-notice and agreement steps required for annexation and district creation.
Quote: "This is actually some very positive news for us," the mayor said when introducing the annexation item.
