The Beaver Area School District Board of School Directors on Nov. 18 approved routine business and multiple personnel items during a special voting session held in the high school library.
Mrs. Hill called the meeting to order at 6:14 p.m. and reported that an executive session had been held earlier to discuss personnel matters. Roll call, read by Mrs. Sebek, showed eight directors present (Bartholomew, Berardelli, Bovalino, Hill, Korcinsky, Thompson, Walker and Yates); Director Pilarski was absent. There were no public comments on agenda or non-agenda items.
The board unanimously approved minutes from its Oct. 28, 2024 voting session on a motion by Aaron Bovalino, seconded by Robin Thompson. The board then approved the consent agenda (items 6.1–6.4) on a motion by Andrea Walker, seconded by Victoria Bartholomew; the motion carried with all eight directors voting aye.
Under the consent agenda the board accepted personnel resignations as presented, including the resignation of Megan Macaulay (Teaching Assistant, Dutch Ridge) with a last day listed as Nov. 27, 2024. The board also approved several hires and substitute assignments pending required background clearances: Lauren Harley was approved as a Learning Support Teacher (Step 9B, $64,391, prorated for the remainder of the 2024–25 school year, expected on or about Jan. 17, 2025); Allison Johnston, Jill Najewicz and Raeshel Ziegler were approved as long-term substitutes at $150 per day with the date ranges listed in the personnel packet; and Kaile Morse was approved as a super substitute at $135 per day and will serve as a long-term substitute in February for FMLA coverage.
The board recognized FMLA requests as presented, including a specified leave dated 11/12/2024–11/23/2024 and an intermittent FMLA beginning on or about Nov. 15, 2024 and continuing through Nov. 2025 (as recorded in the personnel documentation). The board also approved the student teacher and intern placements submitted for review, including placements in the high school and Dutch Ridge with start and end dates noted in the packet.
Mrs. Hill closed the meeting by announcing the December meeting schedule and upcoming school events. Committee meetings and a board reorganization/work session are scheduled Dec. 3 (committee meetings beginning at 4:30 p.m., reorganization at 7:00 p.m.), a voting session is set for Dec. 9 at 7:00 p.m., and an education committee meeting is scheduled for Dec. 16 at 4:30 p.m. The board adjourned at 6:19 p.m. on a motion by Mark Korcinsky, seconded by Andrea Walker.
