Commission denies submitted road-name options; conducts public testing of voting equipment

At 9:45 a.m. on April 23 the Upshur County Commission considered a Road Name Request Application from Bill Breen for a new driveway off Hackers Creek Road. Addressing and Mapping coordinator Terri Jo Bennett reported that the three suggested names (Sunset, Stonebridge, Sunny) conflicted with existing road names. The commission denied the submitted options and asked Breen to submit three new names (motion by Sam Nolte, seconded by Doug Bush).
Separately, at 10:00 a.m. the Commission conducted public testing of voting equipment in the County Clerk area in preparation for the Primary Election on May 12, 2026. The testing was recorded in the minutes as a standard pre-election procedure.
