City outlines FY27 road projects, raises parking-study idea; Fort West Vallica faces organizer shortfall

Planner/staff (speaker 8) said the Motor Fuel Tax program for FY27 is projected to be about $510,000 and listed priorities including a mill-and-overlay on Bulldog Boulevard, storm-sewer and concrete replacement work and bulk-salt purchases for winter needs.
A committee member asked about a reported state proposal to divert a portion of MFT funding; staff said they had only heard limited information about a proposal that could reduce municipal shares and would monitor the issue.
Planner (speaker 8) again recommended launching a parking study in conjunction with zoning work to gather data before the city makes broader downtown parking policy changes. Members said the study could inform whether two-hour limits or other localized solutions are warranted.
On community events, staff (speaker 5) reported some Fort West Vallica organizers are likely to pause the festival this year because of volunteer and vendor shortages; the city will meet with local business owners and the sister-city group to explore whether the event can be sustained or restructured.
What’s next: staff will bring a resolution to city council on road project funding and continue conversations about a parking study and Fort West Vallica’s future.
