Upshur County accepts two grants: $5,000 animal care award and $10,000 records grant

The Upshur County Commission on April 23 approved two grant actions. First, the Commission authorized a $5,000 grant from the West Virginia Department of Agriculture’s Spay and Neuter Assistance Program for the Lewis-Upshur Animal Control Facility; the county will provide local matching funds of $3,333.33 from the local spay-and-neuter account.
Second, the commission accepted a $10,000 award from the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History through the Records Management and Preservation Board to finish a scanning project in the Circuit Clerk’s Office. Assistant County Administrator Cindy M. Hughes said the award will complete the Circuit Clerk’s scanning project.
Both grants were approved by motion during the meeting (spay-and-neuter grant motion by Doug Bush, seconded by Sam Nolte; records grant motion by Sam Nolte, seconded by Doug Bush). No conditions or dissent were recorded in the meeting minutes.
