Chief Terry, accepting the recognition, said he was "incredibly humbled" and thanked the council, city manager, department leaders and his family for their support over a long career. He also expressed confidence in Assistant Chief Brent Stratton as he prepares to serve as chief.
The presentation included brief remarks from members of the senior management team and recognition of Terrys roots and contributions to community partnerships. The council and staff said further celebrations and formal recognition would continue at a later event.
