The Wauconda Village Board on Feb. 17 approved a resolution waiving competitive bidding and authorizing a construction contract with Great Lakes Water Resources Group Inc. to repair Well No. 8 in an amount not to exceed $150,000, Superintendent Marco told the board.
Superintendent Marco said the board previously approved an HMG contract to solicit proposals and that five proposals were received. HMG pulled and evaluated the well and produced a list of recommended repairs. "This project is currently about 40,000 under budget," Marco said, factoring in HMG's proposal, the cost to pull the well and complete repairs. Staff recommended waiving the bidding process because of timing and to keep the repair on schedule.
Marco said there is about a two‑week lead time on the replacement pump and staff anticipates the well will be back in service "early to mid March," before planned repairs and shutdowns cited in the discussion. The board moved and voted to approve the resolution by roll call.
The contract authorization allows staff to finalize the agreement with Great Lakes Water Resources Group Inc. and proceed with the repair work; the village did not specify the exact scheduled start date in the transcript.
