Jason, the district’s business manager, told trustees that payroll for February was $1,892,336.30 and that the Chromebook quote reflected a per-unit price of $380.37 for 315 devices. “We got them for $380.37 a piece,” Jason said, noting this was lower than an earlier estimate and that a staff member would continue negotiating to reduce the price further.
A board member moved to approve the quote from Sterling for the purchase; the motion passed after brief discussion. Trustees did not record a roll-call tally in the public proceedings shown in the transcript.
Why it matters: the purchase is intended to rotate newer Chromebooks to incoming students while aging devices are pushed to lower grades, a step district staff said will help sustain classroom technology over multiple years.
