Board approves pump purchase and land acquisitions for sewer and stormwater projects

The White House board approved several infrastructure actions to support wastewater and stormwater projects.
Public services staff asked the board to authorize a sole-source purchase of a Pioneer Prime diesel-driven centrifugal pump trailer for $60,379.80 to stage at Callisto Pond and use during flood events; staff said the city currently rents a similar pump for about $6,000 per month and expects savings over time. "The pump itself is approximately $3,000; the hoses and the suction tubes are approximately $3,000 as well... so we're saving money by doing this," the public services director said.
Separately the board authorized the city administrator to acquire, by purchase or condemnation, a portion of land owned by AK Development LLC for the Wilkinson Road Sewer Pump Station project for $13,680. City staff explained the parcel has liens that complicate a clean purchase and recommended condemnation so a court can allocate lien proceeds and yield clear title to the needed portion.
The board also approved acquiring a portion of land owned by Robert Hopkins and Tracy Allgood for $30,000 to revise the Oakdale Pond detention pond and reduce local flooding; staff noted one owner is currently deployed and that the city will coordinate remotely as negotiations continue.
All three measures were approved by voice vote.
