During the public comment period, three residents addressed the board about local road maintenance, zoning and drainage concerns.
Randall Coble (108 Katy Court) urged the board to resurface Reed Way in the Heritage Farms area, describing longstanding potholes and repeated temporary patches. “If I have to be a squeaky wheel to get this thing done, then I’m just gonna have to be a squeaky wheel,” Coble said, asking the council to prioritize resurfacing the road.
Lavonne Mac McIntyre, who lives at 8179 South Pinson Drive, opposed a zoning change she understood would increase density on a 1.3-acre site that floods frequently. She asked whether the city was considering the flooding risks when reviewing zoning changes and said she was against increased density at that location.
Tyler Safer of 8313 South Pinson Drive echoed McIntyre’s concern, described standing water that prevented construction of a planned in-ground pool and said he lost money attempting to dig because of high groundwater levels. Safer said he had taken photographs and asked the council to prevent changes that would shift drainage impacts onto long-time neighbors.
City staff later addressed the site-specific concerns during discussion of an annexation request for the same area, noting that required elevation certificates and stormwater controls would apply to any future building permits.
