The Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved several items by voice or roll-call votes at the meeting.
Ordinances and zoning Ordinance 25-01, an amendment to municipal code Title 8, Chapter 3 (package liquor store provisions), passed on second reading after a roll-call vote. Ordinance 25-03, amending Central Business District zoning provisions, also passed on second reading by voice vote.
Infrastructure and equipment The board approved a low bid from Scott Contracting and Stone LLC in the amount of $919,852.71 for the Sage Road widening project (Bridal Drive to U.S. 31W); staff said the low bid was significantly under earlier projections for the project. The wastewater director recommended and the board approved purchase of a demonstrator VACON VJ jetter trailer (about 20 hours of use) from CMI Equival Sales Inc. for $83,318, citing local dealer parts availability, existing warranty and projected price increases for new units.
Personnel Council approved a compensation package for fiscal 2025–2026 consisting of a 2.5% merit increase plus a 0.5% cost-of-living adjustment (3% total) for all city employees.
Procedure note The board also approved scheduling a study session to review submitted liquor store permit applications and interview applicants; one member voted nay on scheduling but the motion carried. Where the transcript recorded only voice tallies, the minutes will contain the formal roll-call or tally.
