A staff member told the meeting that the town will run a YCA summer day camp in Crossville in partnership with St. Alphonsus Church. "We'll be running a YCA day camp here this summer," the staff member said, adding that the program expects to serve about 50 children who have completed kindergarten through age 10 and will operate roughly 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. to accommodate parents' work schedules.
The staff member said the town had received many responses from prospective camp counselors and planned interviews "the 24 fourth and 20 fifth" (transcript phrasing; later clarified as interviews on the 24th and 25th) to be held in Art Gertz's office. The staff member also said the program may rehire counselors after the summer and pursue a monthly "kids night out" with the Methodist church to keep staff engaged.
The announcement included no vote or formal action; staff said they would continue planning and hiring.
