Kaufman County commissioners on Nov. 18 tabled consideration of a Dallas–Fort Worth Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) application related to Hathium Tech USA after representatives from Mesquite Economic Development Corporation and the FTZ presenter were not present to answer questions.
The presiding official told the court he had left messages for a Mesquite EDC representative and recommended postponing the item rather than approving it without the ability to question presenters. Commissioners expressed unease about approving the application in absence of the local EDC representative and voted to move the item to a subsequent meeting so Mesquite EDC can attend and answer questions.
The court recorded the motion to table and asked staff to re-notify Mesquite EDC and return the application when the presenters can be present.
