The Crossville City Council’s work session added numerous routine and project items to be considered at upcoming meetings.
Chair said mayoral reappointments to the airport committee (Chris Peterson, Gwen Shoaute Chalo and Larry Patterson) and the Crossville Regional Planning Commission (Kevin Poor) will be added to the agenda. The councilman role on the Board of Appeals (Mike Turner) was proposed for reappointment and will require council approval; the tree board term vacated by Mike Stump will be recommended to be filled by Brad Ray.
Staff recommended approval of Change Order No. 1 for Fire Station 2 to allow 41 days of weather-related delay and said move-in is tentatively expected in 2026; the item will be added to the regular meeting agenda. Planning staff presented an ordinance to abandon a portion of Donnelly Place and change a hammerhead to a full cul-de-sac; annexation resolutions for four locations were also presented, with one Woodlawn site requiring a sewer extension paid by the property owner.
Staff recommended awarding the low bid of $191,730 for rehabilitation (sandblasting) of a Genesis water tank; the council will consider the award at the regular meeting. The city has received an offer from Brian Serock to purchase about 2.8 acres on Wyatt Court and the buyer offered an easement for a walking trail; staff will bring details back for council action.
Council also confirmed it would move forward with a previously approved application to the Healthy Built Environment grant program and deferred a playground bid award until staff prepares a recommendation. The city attorney reminded attendees about the delinquent tax posting and statutory filing deadlines for collections; Chair noted late-arriving TDOT contracts will be added to other business. The work session then adjourned.
