City staff report Fire Station 2 construction behind schedule; water intrusion addressed

A staff member identified as Tim reported on progress at Fire Station 2, saying HVAC, plumbing and electrical rough‑in on the east and west ends are complete, roll‑up doors are installed and outside asphalt work is finished. Tim said drywall with firewalls is in place inside the bays and that crews were preparing to install the exhaust system within two weeks.
Tim told the council the project is still behind schedule and he expected completion in January. A council member reported seeing water intrusion where drywall had already been installed; Tim said the contractor removed affected drywall, replaced insulation, completed missing flashings and gutters, and that the corrective work should address the leaks.
The council also heard brief announcements that Highway 70 North will close for an estimated year for bridge repair and that pickleball court lighting work is scheduled to begin Dec. 1, requiring about five days of closure pending weather.
