Lubbock County Commissioners approve routine financial items, contracts and leases

At its Nov. 22 meeting the Lubbock County Commissioners Court approved budget transfers and claims, accepted a GFOA award, authorized several contracts and renewals, accepted a donation for K-9 training and approved leases and equipment purchases.
The Lubbock County Commissioners Court on Nov. 22 approved routine financial and administrative items including budget transfers, claims payments, contract renewals and procurement actions.
County Auditor Miss Williams presented line-item transfers totaling $1,526,181 and budget amendments totaling $147,107, which the court approved. The court also authorized payment of claims in the amount of $2,324,424.06 and approved authority for the auditor and treasurer to run a separate payment for grant 3401108 so certain grant expenses could be paid before the next accounts-payable run.
Judge Parrish read a release from the Government Finance Officers Association announcing Lubbock County’s receipt of the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2024; the court accepted the certificate and commended the auditor’s office and department directors for their work.
The court accepted a $1,000 donation from Tractor Supply to be used for future canine training in memory of K-9 Arlo and authorized the county judge to sign the first of four one-year renewals for professional psychological services with Dr. Vanessa (as presented by the sheriff’s office). The court approved an amendment to the county’s service agreement with Sedgwick Claims Management Services for workers’ compensation claims management, authorized purchases and addenda for a Bobcat forklift and chilled-water-loop controls for the detention center, and approved an amendment to an ECO software license to reflect kiosk communications changes.
The court also authorized a lease agreement with the regional public defender’s office for space at 916 Main, Suite 900, and finalized acceptance of County Road 7660 associated with Davis Park into County Road maintenance for Precinct 1 after roads staff reported corrected deficiencies.
Several items were pulled from the consent agenda or tabled for later consideration; the court postponed consideration of an appointment to the Texas Conference of Urban Counties Policy Committee until the Jan. 12 meeting to allow time to review finances.
There was no executive session called; Judge Parrish wished the court and public a merry Christmas and adjourned the meeting at 10:54 a.m.
