Airport installs rental chiller for tower; permanent unit expected later this year

Tim said the rental chiller will bridge operations until the permanent replacement can be delivered and installed. He said the permanent chiller procurement has long lead times and the replacement system is expected toward the end of the calendar year, with lead time on equipment of roughly six months.
In operations updates, staff reported the airport had been closed for about 25 hours during a March 14–16 blizzard; crews temporarily pulled an aircraft and vehicles off the runway while clearing conditions, and one controller spent the night due to equipment issues. Staff said hangar inspections had been completed and crews planned repairs for units that needed rebuilding.
Committee members asked for clarification about timetables and confirmed the rental chiller will support operations during the upcoming EAA event. No budget action was taken at this meeting; procurement and installation timing for the permanent chiller will proceed through normal staff purchasing processes and return to the committee if budget or contract decisions are required.
