The Erwin Board of Mayor and Aldermen used its April 28 meeting to recognize community groups, present proclamations and approve a special-event request from Erwin Utilities.
Glenn White, mayor of Erwin, acknowledged Carrie Hovey representing Keeping the Valley Beautiful for her contributions to environmental and community efforts and presented proclamations recognizing Building and Safety Month (May 2025), Small Business Week and Travel and Tourism Week (May 4–10). Representative Reana Jones presented a House Joint Resolution to the family of Johnny Peterson in recognition of his heroic actions; the resolution text in the meeting record references September 27, 2025, a date that appears inconsistent with the meeting date and that the record does not clarify.
The board also approved a special-event request from Erwin Utilities for its 80th Anniversary. The motion to approve the event was made by Vice Mayor James "Mickey" Hatcher and seconded by Alderwoman Cathy Huskins; the roll call was recorded as all ayes.
Mayor White announced the board's next regular meeting for May 12, 2025, and the meeting was adjourned.
