Erwin officials report CDBG grant for sidewalk repairs; TRAN loan approved

Town recorder Tim Bailey said the CDBG award will be used for sidewalk repairs. Mayor Glenn White introduced Representative Renea Jones, who spoke to the board about the grant award and its purpose for local infrastructure improvements.
The announcement follows board reports earlier in the meeting in which Bailey also noted the town’s TRAN loan approval. The grant and loan are expected to fund near-term capital improvements to sidewalks in town; specific project schedules and funding breakdowns were not specified in the minutes.
Bailey’s completion of the Certified Municipal Finance Officer program was also noted by Mayor White during the meeting.
The board scheduled a special-called meeting for Nov. 21, 2025, at 4:30 p.m.; no formal vote on grant expenditures was recorded at the Nov. 13 meeting.
