ADRC updates: APS caseloads, State Street Center, wheelchair wash and minutes approved

County staff provided operational and program updates to the commission, including Adult Protective Services (APS) activity, community program highlights and upcoming events.

Staff said the APS team received 85 calls in March with 51 requiring follow‑up; several reports involved dementia concerns and a small number of cases resulted in guardianship or emergency protective placements. In April to date APS had taken 34 calls with 18 needing further investigation. Staff emphasized the workload and the role of APS in coordinating protective and placement options.

The commission also heard about community resources: the State Street Center — a downtown program open weekdays for people with mental health or AODA needs — and a new "Walk with the Nurse" pilot to encourage activity and community engagement. Staff described collaboration with the fire department to identify frequent callers and to plan outreach to reduce repeat emergency contacts.

The ADRC announced a wheelchair wash event planned for August and asked commissioners to help plan or volunteer. Staff noted ongoing time‑and‑task reporting changes (training scheduled and phased implementation before a July deadline) and a peer‑to‑peer functional screening training that pairs Nina and Oshkosh staff.

Procedurally, the commission moved to approve the meeting minutes as written; the motion was made on the record and approved by voice vote with no roll‑call recorded. Staff agreed to verify county board appointment listings and any statutory county‑board representation requirements after members raised roster questions.
