A school presenter (speaker 6) said student-led events — including a baked-potato bar, basket raffles and pooled funds with other schools — contributed to a total district donation of $22,232 to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight program.
James Campbell (speaker 10), identified in the meeting as a cofounder and vice president of marketing for the Never Forgotten Honor Flight, told the board the organization began in 2009, has flown thousands of World War II, Korean and Vietnam veterans, and charges about $500 to send one veteran on a flight. Campbell described the emotional impact of the flights and related welcome-home events for veterans and thanked students and the district for their fundraising support.
Board members and attendees took photographs following the presentation. Staff congratulated students for organizing the event and encouraged continued community participation in upcoming flights.
