Volunteer coach asks board to delay decision on girls golf co-op with Iola; board tables item
Summary
A volunteer assistant girls golf coach urged the board to wait until a May 6 parent/player meeting to decide on a cooperative with Iola, citing low current team numbers; the board voted to table the golf and JV wrestling co-op items to allow more information and participation numbers to be collected.

A volunteer assistant girls golf coach (speaker 1) told the board she represented the girls golf team and asked the board to postpone approving a cooperative (co-op) with nearby Iola until after a May 6 meeting with parents and players. The coach said the team currently has five to seven players and that 10–12 would be a preferable size to sustain a standalone club; if numbers remained low, she said, a co-op with Iola would be a sensible option to give local students playing opportunities.
Board members asked clarifying questions about who would coordinate conversations with the athletic director and how numbers might change with incoming eighth graders. After the public comment, board members discussed the item later in the agenda and a motion was made and seconded to table both the golf and JV wrestling co-op proposals so staff and families can return updated participation data and the board can consider both items together.
The board instructed staff to bring updated numbers and additional information back at a future meeting before finalizing any cooperative agreements.
