Erwin board advances four zoning measures on first reading and appoints Terry Wise to library board

ERWIN, Tenn. — The Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the Town of Erwin on June 2 approved minutes from its May 12 meeting, advanced four zoning-related ordinances on their first readings and appointed Terry Wise to the Erwin Library Board.
Vice Mayor James “Mickey” Hatcher moved to approve the May 12 minutes, and Alderwoman Angie Vaughn seconded; the motion passed with all ayes from the members present — Vaughn, Cathy Huskins, Hatcher and Mayor Glenn White. Alderwoman Vaughn opened the meeting with the invocation and Ryan Blankenship led the pledge of allegiance.
On ordinance business, the board took first-reading action on four items: Ordinance No. 763-25 (Fishery Park Overlay); Ordinance No. 764-25 (Extension of Corridor Overlay); Ordinance No. 765-25 (rezone for property at 686 Vinton Ave); and Ordinance No. 766-25 (rezone on N Elm Ave). Motions to approve each ordinance on first reading were made and seconded by council members as recorded in the meeting minutes; roll-call votes for each motion were recorded as ayes from Vaughn, Huskins, Hatcher and Mayor White. These actions were first readings only; no final adoptions or ordinance amendments were recorded at the special session.
The board also considered and approved the appointment of Terry Wise to the town library board. Alderwoman Cathy Huskins moved the appointment, Vice Mayor Hatcher seconded, and the motion passed unanimously among members present.
Mayor Glenn White announced that the next regular meeting of the board will be held June 9, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. There being no further business, the board adjourned. The minutes were attested by Town Recorder Tim Bailey.
