Courtney Walker of the Muncie Building Commissioner’s Office presented the bids and recommended the lowest responsive bidders for each property. Her list included Yarberry Construction at $10,888 for 218 East 7th Street; JH Shroyer Group at $4,925 for properties on the 1900 block of West 17th Street and 1924 West 17th Street and $5,920 for 906 South Beacon Street; Shroyer Solutions at $9,215 for 611 South Council Street; Steve Excavating and Demo at $4,100 for 928 South E. Wright Street; and Yarberry Construction at $2,491 for 2523 South Meeker Avenue.
Walker said three properties had initially been held because she and staff had spoken with owners who were attempting their own remedies; she reported one owner at 218 East 7th Street agreed to a payment plan to proceed with city demolition. Walker told the board that most demolitions and required asbestos inspections are funded through community development HUD funds, while costs for historically significant properties come from the unsafe building hearing fund.
On motion the board approved the contracts as presented; no individual board votes were recorded in the public transcript beyond a unanimous voice vote.
