Fort Pierce staff reviews annual report, project timelines and upcoming Avenue D work

Staff presented highlights from the agency's annual report covering Oct. 1, 2024, to Sept. 30, 2025, and summarized current and upcoming capital projects.
The report lists projects including the Avenue D Model Block, Lincoln Park master plan, Marina Square, the Western Peninsula, Indian River Drive corridor improvements and the Avenue D corridor work from U.S. 1 to 29th Street. Staff said construction on Avenue D corridor improvements is expected to begin in May.
On grant and project timing, staff said commercial facade grant recipients must obtain a building permit within six months of award or request an extension; once a permit is issued, projects must be completed within 12 months (18 months total from award to completion). A staff report noted an approved interlocal agreement with FPUA to paint the JC Park water tank and that a call for artists for that project will be issued soon.
Members also received ridership and usage figures for a local program described in the report (reported totals: 74,000 passengers and 54,000 completed rides) and discussed resurfacing plans that will not widen certain streets. Several items will return for further review at upcoming meetings.
The board adjourned after a final round of comments.
