Julie Valicello and the Queen Anne’s County Children’s Council accepted Proclamation 26‑12 recognizing April as the Month of the Young Child and announced poster‑contest winners from local preschools and elementary schools. The county presented framed artwork and $50 gift cards to winners in attendance.
Beth Ann Dorman, president and CEO of For All Seasons, and Katie Fekke, chief marketing and communications officer, received Proclamation 26‑14 recognizing Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Dorman described crisis‑center services (24/7 hotlines, bilingual advocacy, hospital accompaniment, child‑advocacy coordination) and urged community consistency in prevention education. She cited Maryland statistics discussed during the presentation and encouraged parents to use hotline resources and local partners for immediate assistance.
Library Director Jan Salazar and board members highlighted the FY25 annual report: visits were up 24% year‑over‑year, the makerspace and story‑time programs expanded, AARP tax‑aide served more residents, and the library is phasing out the pay‑per‑use Hoopla service in favor of a larger ‘lucky day’ collection and other digital services. Salazar outlined summer reading plans and community outreach.
