Summary
The commission released a proposed FY2027 budget with a $230.95 million general fund operating budget and $63.49 million capital program, adding funds for a seventh EMS paramedic crew and athletic‑field lighting while reducing real property tax revenue estimates; public hearings were scheduled for May.
Queen Anne’s County on April 28 released the county commissioners’ proposed FY2027 budget for public review and scheduled hearings in May.
Director of Budget and Finance Jeffrey Ranks outlined adjustments made since the administrator’s March presentation, including a 3‑cent decrease in the real‑property tax revenue estimate, additional funding to add a seventh EMS paramedic crew, a facilities‑technician position for the public housing authority, and $682,000 for athletic‑field lighting at Bats Neck Park. The county’s proposed general fund operating budget is $230,950,880 with a capital budget of $63,493,968.
Ranks said reductions were made in estimates for unratified state cost shifts and positions the county had earlier anticipated funding. Commissioners announced three public budget hearing venues in May (Kent Island Library, Centerville Liberty Building, and a Sellersville school) and a public comment window open through June 9. Commissioners and staff stressed that the proposal is subject to adjustment after those hearings.
