Ontario City Council unanimously approves water-fee code amendment and a refinancing plan
Summary
The council voted 5–0 to amend the municipal code pertaining to water service fees following a public hearing and also approved a refinancing and related lease-financing obligation for city property; consent calendar passed 5–0 as well.
At its April 7 meeting the Ontario City Council approved several routine and administrative items by unanimous electronic vote.
After a public hearing on an ordinance to amend section 6-8.51 of the Ontario Municipal Code relating to water service fees and a staff finding that the action is not a CEQA project, the council moved, seconded and approved the ordinance by a 5–0 vote. During the hearing, public commenter Chris Robles opposed the measure and warned it would “allow the city council to easily move forward on increasing water rates,” but the council voted in favor.
The council also approved a refinancing plan and related lease financing obligation for city-owned property at 9155–931 East Riverside Drive; that item passed 5–0 after staff presented the refinancing plan. The consent calendar was approved 5–0 at the meeting’s consent vote.
