Superintendent Mark Smith introduced Jesse Craddock on April 27 as the newly appointed principal of Margaret E. Small Elementary School, effective July 1, 2026. Smith summarized Craddock's experience leading Cushing Elementary (Scituate) and Cedar Elementary (Hanover) and cited his master’s degree in school administration.
Craddock, who addressed the committee after the announcement, described his family and career in education and said he was eager to begin. "I am really very eager to start," he said, thanking the interview committee and assistant superintendent Lopes for the transition work.
Smith told the committee the selection followed "a rigorous selection process" that included parents, educators and school leaders, and that Craddock had been praised for culture-building, instructional focus and visible leadership. Craddock said he plans to listen and learn as he meets students, families and staff during the transition period.
The committee offered congratulations; no formal vote on the appointment was recorded at the meeting, and the effective start date posted by the superintendent is July 1, 2026.
