Town administrator: $35,000 grant for Kellum's Field fitness area; rail-trail RFP set to open

Town administrator Samely (Speaker 9) briefed the council on several project updates: a new 'projects and investments' section on the town website, a rail-trail expansion RFP slated to open April 23, and a $35,000 grant award to fund an adult fitness area at Kellum's Field.
Samely said staff is building project pages that will show goals, budgets and FAQs; the water-park page is already live. On the rail-trail, Samely said the grant application can describe the alternates considered and fund a feasibility phase; if the grant is awarded, the town will carry out the feasibility and 30% design work before selecting a preferred alignment.
“We received $35,000 for that court,” Samely said of the adult fitness-area grant. The administrator also said the Kellum's master-plan revision incorporates the new fitness space and that the town will pursue additional grants for portions of the revitalization.
Next steps: RFP posting for the rail-trail (April 23), feasibility work if the state grant is awarded, and development of separate project pages and public-facing FAQs for key capital projects.
