Warm Springs Middle School honored with Solution Tree award; district celebrates multiple Purple Star recognitions
Summary
Superintendent and a Solution Tree representative recognized Warm Springs Middle School for earning a Solution Tree 'promising practices' award; the board also announced several Purple Star schools and invited military liaisons and local dignitaries to the ceremony.
Superintendent Faith Muchnick Jacks introduced a special recognition segment and invited Kristen Stess, director of educational partnerships at Solution Tree, to present Warm Springs Middle School with a 'promising practices' award.
Kristen Stess said Warm Springs exemplifies a professional learning community in which every adult takes responsibility for student success, describing classroom and library interactions she observed during a school visit. "Every student feels like they belong here," Stess said as she presented the honor.
The Board also recognized multiple Purple Star schools — a state designation for schools that partner with and support military‑connected students — and called up principals and military liaisons from several campuses and partners from Camp Pendleton and Riverside County for certificates and photos. Daniel Whitling and Maria Swanson from Camp Pendleton thanked the district for its partnership; City Councilwoman Cindy Warren and Doctor Lisa DeForest expressed pride and underscored the importance of school supports for military families.
Board members and staff noted the district’s military‑family population and described the awards as recognition of ongoing partnerships and targeted support for students who experience frequent moves and deployments. The Board paused for photos and brief remarks before moving on to public comment.
