Albany County commissioners approved a $700,000 contract renewal with Equinox to continue residential domestic violence shelter services.
Mr. Barton of Social Services (S4) presented the contract renewal and described recent service demand: "The amount is for $700,000 ... The 700,000 is 32% federal funding, 24% state, and 44%, county," he said. He told the board that in January through March 2026 the county assessed about 1,210 individuals for domestic violence shelter needs and that 22 were placed in that quarter. Mr. Barton also gave the per diem rate for the Equinox residential program as "$114.38 per eligible individual." He said he would follow up with counts of residential sites in the county on request.
Board members asked for additional details about the number and location of residential sites; Mr. Barton said that information is kept confidential and that he would provide a count. The board approved the renewal by voice vote.
