The Charlton Select Board voted 3–1 on April 28 to adopt an updated permit fee schedule for building, wiring, plumbing and gas work, with the new schedule taking effect for applications and inspections received after July 1, 2026.
Town staff said Building Commissioner Kurt Meskis had provided a comprehensive review and that the Finance Committee had recommended the schedule. A motion to adopt the listed fees was made and seconded. During roll-call votes the board recorded three affirmative votes and one negative vote, and the chair announced the motion passed 3–1.
Board members did not record additional amendments during the discussion. The administrator said the schedules would be applied to projects and inspections with applications or requests received after the July 1 effective date; officials said questions about specific fees should be directed to the building department.
The vote will change the town’s fee structure for permitting and will affect applicants applying on or after the stated effective date.
