Greene County reviews March finances; $77,000 renovation grant offsets but doesn’t fully cover HVAC costs

At the meeting, staff member Matt (speaker 6) presented the March financial report and an update on renovation funding for the district recycling facility. Matt said the March ending balance was reported at $142,005.61 and that the district had received a $77,000 county grant earmarked for the building renovation.
Matt said about $14,000 of that grant was already spent on a new HVAC unit for the Swiss City recycling center, leaving the bulk of the grant unspent. He warned that when outstanding invoices for the renovation arrive the district will still need roughly an additional $20,000 above the grant to complete the work. "So by the time we get the invoice for the rest of the work, we're still gonna need about 80,000, so we're gonna need another 20,000 above what was granted," Matt said.
Board members discussed that the $142,005 figure is misleading because grant funds are restricted to renovation; Matt and the chair estimated the usable cash balance after grant restrictions to be closer to $79,000. The trustees asked staff to monitor invoices and report back; no formal budget amendment was adopted at the meeting.
Also reported: Swiss City collected $2,624 in March (983 customers; average $124.95/day) and a recent tire-amnesty day collected 1,184 tires from 146 participants. The board said the amnesty program will continue until grant money allocated for the event is exhausted.
The board accepted the financial report and moved on to ordinance and fee discussions.
