Committee approves first reading of policies BBA and BCA with minor revisions

Assistant Superintendent Karen Paquette explained the changes are minor wording updates to align district policy terms with other documents (for example replacing "school unit" with "school district") and to include sample language from Maine School Management where appropriate. Paquette said the edits were largely editorial and clarifying rather than substantive.
Members asked clarifying questions about a specific insertion referenced as "order opinions" in BCA and whether that language reflected any district‑specific prompt; Paquette said the phrase was suggested in sample policies from Maine School Management and was not prompted by a local issue.
Member Amber Boden moved the first reading and Member Julia Harper seconded. The roll call vote was recorded as unanimous in favor, and the committee will schedule subsequent readings or final adoption consistent with normal policy procedures.
