Resident urges council to sponsor countywide kickball game to boost engagement

"On behalf of our community, I would like to propose a sponsorship of countywide kickball game in partnership with the Sumter School District as we approach the conclusion of the school year," White said. He said the event would last three to four hours, provide water and light refreshments, and invite council members to participate for photographs and outreach.
White told the council the idea grew from prior kickball events in 2024 that included Councilwoman Tasha Garner and Councilman Carlton Washington and that Jared Washington, a council member’s son, helped develop the proposal. Chair closed public comment after White and no other speakers came forward.
