Board recognizes students and staff; superintendent highlights ES8 construction and outreach

District principals introduced Students of the Month for March from Lake Stevens Middle School, North Lake Middle School, Cavelero Mid High and Lake Stevens High School. Several students were unable to attend but were recognized in minutes. Assistant Superintendent Dr. John Baimer introduced APPLE Award recipients Lori Bannister, Amanda Elhardt, Daniel Farnham, Teresa Mature and Matt Pewitt. SACo Vice-president Afebia Aemere and Secretary Ginelle Sarpong presented a SACo award to Grounds and Maintenance Employee Brandon Walsh.
Superintendent Dr. Mary Templeton thanked staff and students for their contributions, highlighted the "Did You Know with Dr. T" initiative and said the district plans to increase student involvement and promotion of events including the upcoming high school play "Puffs." She also reported that construction on ES8 has officially begun and noted positive interactions with the construction crew.
Board members praised recognition programs, reflected on school visits, and emphasized inclusion, character and community support in shaping student success. The meeting adjourned at 7:59 p.m.
