Farmington Hills schedules hazardous-waste drop-off, plant swap and family campout
Summary
The city announced a household hazardous materials drop-off on Saturday, May 9 at the OCC campus, the Beautification Commission plant swap the same morning, a family campout in Heritage Park in June, and a Memorial Day closure on May 25.
Farmington Hills officials announced several community events and service notices for spring and early summer.
Vicky, the show's presenter, said the city is partnering with Rosoc to host a household hazardous materials drop-off on Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the OCC campus in Farmington Hills, for safe disposal of items such as used paint and automotive products.
The Farmington Hills Beautification Commission will hold its annual spring plant and seed swap the same day, Saturday, May 9, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Heritage Park Visitors Center. Organizers said the swap will take place rain or shine.
The twentieth annual Great Campout is planned for a weekend in June in Heritage Park. Vicky described the event as a one-night family campground with educational and recreational activities, a hot-dog dinner, marshmallow roasting and a pancake breakfast; participants are asked to register via the web address shown on the city’s program.
A reminder: city offices will be closed Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day. Vicky said that garbage, recycling and yard-waste pickup will be delayed by one day that week.
No registration costs, vendor lists, or additional logistics were provided during the program; listeners were referred to the city's website for registration and further details.
